Safety Toys for Your Cats
Cat toys are highly recommended for cats since it will help their health as well as improve their skills in hunting unwanted pests in your home. Cat toys will also be a great way to entertain yourself as you watch your cat enjoy the toys that you give them.
Although you have a good idea on what toys you need to give to your cats, your cats usually have another idea. They are often attracted to dangerous things and these things could harm or even kill them in an instant. They like to play on very small things and eventually eat them which could choke them or will cause indigestion.
Going with the Cat’s Preferences
That is why it is highly recommended to look for toys that are according to your cat’s preferences. Toys for cats often come small so you basically have the toys your cat needs. You just have to carefully inspect the type of toys that you are trying to purchase. The toy should be small enough for your cat to play with. However, the toy should never be too small for your cat to swallow. Again, indigestion and choking is a possibility when you have small toys for your cats.
Cats also tend to love to play with soft things. That is why your cat would love to play on ball of yarn. If you notice that your cat enjoy this type of things, purchase a plush for your cat. But as much as possible, look for a plastic plush for your cats. Your cats will have claws to easily destroy regular plush and the insides of these toys are not food.
One of the cheapest “toys” you can get for your cat is paper bag. Cats really love to inspect the insides of a paper bag and would go to great lengths to be inside of the paper bag. To make your home safe for your cats, be sure to remove any plastic bags or any paper bags that have holders. These types of bags could strangle your cat and kill it in an instant. A cordless paper bag could give your cat hours and hours of fun.
The Catnip
The catnip is often the preferred stage for cat owners to shower their cats with toys and different gifts. But this is not often the situation. In fact, there are cats that are not attracted to catnips even though you have already placed a scent that will attract a catnip lover cat.
Rotation and Play
One of the ways to ensure that your cat is constantly interested in toys is to rotate them. Do not bring out all the toys at once. Give them five toys or three toys and change it after a day or two. This will not only prevent the toys from being destroyed, you are also given the chance clean them.
Aside from rotation, use the toys to encourage play and hunting practice for your cats. Place your cat’s toys in different areas at home as a form of hide and seek. A combination of toys that your cat can pound on or just simply play with is highly recommended.
